Puppy Training in Rome, GA

Around Rome, several trainers sell puppy work as a program with a name of its own, rather than folding puppies into general obedience. Where an age is written down, the programs do not overlap. One runs its puppy track “For puppies up to 5 months old” and describes the content as environmental exposure, “socialisation, foundational obedience, travel preparation and crate training” — British spelling theirs. Another is built around eight-to-fourteen-week-olds and split across two residential stays up to six months apart, the first being “Two weeks now, focusing on crate training, potty training, leash walking, basic obedience, and early socialization” and the second a return for duration work, place work and off-leash skills. An eight-week-old and a five-month-old are not shopping in the same place here.
The other puppy programs are as far apart in format as they are in age. One is a six-week group class at a member club, the only recurring puppy class in this metro with a published curriculum and something to show at the end of it — “Completion of all 6 weeks & skills can result in AKC STAR certificate”. One teaches puppies one-to-one in the owner’s home and in real-world places instead of in a class. One sells puppy camps at its own training center and pairs them with online housetraining and puppy-kindergarten courses. And one publishes a puppy-to-adult program track but gates entry behind an evaluation before it will say what a dog is eligible for.
Many other trainers here publish no puppy-specific offering, and most of them work residentially or one-to-one, which is where a young puppy gets complicated. One board-and-train operation caps intake at “Medium to Large Breeds 2 years and younger”; another answers the age question only in its FAQ, writing that “Training can begin at almost any age” and that early puppy training builds good habits and confidence.
What none of these trainers publishes is a vaccination requirement, or a minimum age for joining a class with other puppies in the room. That is the thing to pin down on the phone before you book, because their sites do not settle it.
