All Breed Training Club

About All Breed Training Club
What it is
The All Breed Training Club of Akron is a long-running, member-driven training club at 229 E. Howe Rd in Tallmadge, founded in 1949 and recently marking its 75th anniversary. Its motto, "Teaching you to teach your dog since 1949," reflects a handler-education, group-class model rather than a board-and-train or in-home service.
Classes
The club offers a full ladder of group classes: multi-level obedience (I, II, III), agility from pre-agility through advanced, rally, conformation, puppy classes (Puppy I & II), tricks, and a "Pawsitive Reactions" course. It is AKC-affiliated, runs sanctioned AKC trials and practice run-thrus, and won a 2025 AKC Public Education Award.
The partnership-focused framing – dogs demonstrating "willingness to work with its handler" – points to a positive, cooperative teaching style. As a nonprofit-style club it is a strong, affordable fit for owners who want structured classes and a path into AKC sports like agility, rally, and conformation, and who are comfortable learning to train their own dog rather than handing it off.
