About All Star Dog Sports

About All Star Dog Sports

All Star Dog Sports introduces itself as "Kansas City's premiere agility training and event center". The facility is at 8316 SW State Route 7, Blue Springs, MO 64014, and is used both for classes and for hire: the contact page invites enquiries about "joining our classes or renting our facility for an event".

What is taught

This is a sport school rather than a pet-manners school. The navigation lists agility classes, an agility FAQ and scent work classes, alongside an events calendar. The contact page routes enquiries by level – the owners handle "general facility questions, event rentals, and competition-level classes", a separate instructor takes Intro to Agility enquiries, and Christy Darter is named for scent work classes.

The instructor

The about page gives a detailed competitive record for Lori Michaels: "Lori has been involved in dog sports for over 30 years, and has been an agility instructor for the last 24. She and her dogs have won multiple national titles in addition to represented the USA internationally eight times with her Sheltie, Skye and Border Collie, Solei." It lists medals in individual or team events at the World Agility Open between 2012 and 2015, the FCI Agility World Championship in 2015, 2016 and 2017, and the IFCS World Agility Championship in 2014. She is also described as "a certified UKI agility judge" who "assisted in developing the UKI Judge's Education program".

Teaching emphasis

Despite the competitive record, the page puts the emphasis on students: "Lori has a passion for teaching her students the necessary connection and teamwork to reach their own goals with their dogs. From earning their first titles to winning medals overseas". Cassie Schmidt is named as the second owner. Ask about prices and the class timetable.
