About Ankeny Bark Avenue

A pet resort with training in Ankeny

Ankeny Bark Avenue is a full-service pet resort at 915 SE Shurfine Drive in Ankeny, founded in 2008 by sisters Haley Aleman and Sydney Sjaardema. Bark Avenue West opened in 2014 to serve West Des Moines and a third location followed in Waukee in 2020. The resorts offer dog boarding, dog daycare and day school, grooming and dog training.

Training

The training programs are designed to help a dog master the most common obedience commands, including sit, stay, lay down, come and heel, and to guide owners through challenges such as leash pulling and jumping on people. A free evaluation is available at any of the locations.

What to ask

Ask how the training programs are structured, how they fit with daycare or boarding, and about pricing. Call (515) 964-9898 to schedule the free evaluation.
