About Black Dog Kennel

Field and home

Black Dog Kennel in Carlton trains gun dogs for the field and the home and accepts a very limited number of dogs in training at a time. Its obedience training covers all of the basic commands plus socialization in varied environments.

Gun dog programs

The Gun Dog Head Start program, for pups from 12 weeks to 6 months, covers house and crate training, socialization, and introductions to birds, water, bumpers and retrieving along with basic commands. Gun Dog Elementary, for dogs 6 to 12 months old, adds water time, field time and breed-dependent field training. The Gun Dog Foundation program takes a puppy at 16 weeks and runs it through both stages, with an optional stretch at home in between.

Boarding and lay up

Day and overnight boarding is by reservation, with optional training added during a stay, and lay-up care serves dogs recovering under veterinary instructions. Inquiries go to 717.818.7888 or bdkennel@outlook.com.
