About Blowing Springs Kennel
Who they are
Blowing Springs Kennel sits at 370 Chattanooga Valley Road in Flintstone, Georgia. The site says it was started by Roddy Reynolds and established in 2009 as a hunting Lab kennel, since expanded to work with all kinds of dogs. Kayden Preston is named as owner, having been at the facility over six years, with Jessica Preston also listed as owner and working part-time. The site's own line for what it does is “Giving a dog a job.”
The three-week program
The published training program runs three weeks at $1,200 and is built around three obedience principles the site names as sit, heel and no. Week one is indoors in what the site calls the green room, building a bond and the first skills — loading up, walking at heel, sitting for long periods, recall with light distraction. Week two moves the same skills outdoors around other dogs and onto the hiking trail. Week three takes the dog into the real world: people, places, a park, children.
Owner lessons and afterwards
Owners are asked to attend at least three lessons during the three weeks, and the site says free lessons remain available for the rest of the dog's life. After the program, short-term board and train can be booked for anything from a day to much longer, so a boarding stay can double as a training top-up. Hunt training, boarding and breeding are published as separate services.
