About Camp Bow Wow Springfield East

Who they are

Camp Bow Wow Springfield East is a daycare and boarding facility at 2814 S Fremont Ave in Springfield, part of a national franchise. Daycare and overnight boarding are the main business – the site describes indoor and outdoor play yards, individual cabins for overnight campers and live web cameras – but training is carried as a service in its own right, which is why it appears in a dog-training directory at all.

The training side

The site describes dog training and grooming as fitting naturally into a dog's time at Camp, and makes a practical argument for it: the dog already knows and trusts the environment, so a session there can be less stressful than a trip somewhere unfamiliar. The training programs are described as using reward-based, positive reinforcement methods to build basic obedience, good manners and confident socialization, and the site says its certified camp counselors are trained in canine behavior and body language.

What this is and is not

This is obedience and socialization attached to a daycare, not a behavior practice. There is no board-and-train program, no aggression or reactivity work and no service or protection line on the site. An owner with a reactive dog or a serious behavior problem is better served elsewhere in this directory; an owner whose dog is already in daycare and needs manners is well placed here.

Practical details

The camp is open seven days a week including holidays, and the site offers a first day free and requires a reservation. Grooming, enrichment and pet transport run alongside.

A note on the two Springfield camps

There is a second Camp Bow Wow in Springfield, on West Sunset Street. Its own pages carry daycare, boarding and grooming but no training, so only the East location appears in this directory as a training provider.
