About Canine Academy

A training and boarding school since 1976

Canine Academy is a training and boarding school at 336 Winchester Road (Route 263) in Winchester, run by William H. and Peggy E. Ruddy. Established in 1976, it is devoted to training dogs and educating their owners, and it credits itself with over 50 years of training experience. Its motto is "For Those Who Are Particular," and it displays a Reader's Choice winner award.

Training

Canine Academy offers in-resident training courses, with the owner brought into the work so the relationship carries on at home. Training topics include obedience, hunting, tricks and tracking, and the academy invites owners to call about behavioral issues. Its view is that each dog has a different personality and should be trained by someone experienced in the art of training dogs.

Boarding

Boarding is $37 a day, daily leash walks are $7, and puppies under 6 months are $1 more. Stays of 5 days or more require a deposit of about half the stay by check or cash. Hours are Monday to Saturday 8:30 to 5:30 and Sunday 8:30 to noon, closed daily for lunch.

What to ask
