About Canine College
A family training estate since 1946
Canine College is a training and boarding campus on a private country estate at 40 Marchant Road in Redding. It was founded in 1946 by WWII Army K-9 Corps veteran John M. Behan and is now third-generation, family-owned and operated, led by Sharon Lanoue and Stephanie Kassner. Its team has trained more than 15,000 dogs, and staff are certified in pet first aid through the American Red Cross.
Training
Canine College offers individualized, immersive 3 to 5-week residential training programs. Each dog gets daily one-on-one work with a trainer, full boarding, recreational walks and complimentary grooming, and every program includes one-on-one coaching sessions for owners so progress continues at home. The philosophy centers on clear expectations, structure and consistency, with a calm, low-volume setting. Success stories on its pages include a reactive German Shepherd and a Cobberdog prepared for assistance work with a family member.
Boarding and spa
Boarding guests stay in private rooms with outdoor access, radiant heated floors and air conditioning, with food, walks, wellness checks and maintenance grooming included in the daily rate. Care is individualized, one-on-one rather than group play, and spa services are available to boarding and training clients.
What owners say
