About Chappell Hill Pet Resort
Family-run resort in Chappell Hill
Chappell Hill Pet Resort is a family-owned day care, boarding and training business in Chappell Hill, run from the Whalen family's home and described as Aggie and veteran owned. Owner Nathan Whalen retired from the United States Air Force in 2014 as a Master Sergeant and has been training dogs for over twenty years, with mentorship from trainer Bill Schroeder.
Training
The resort offers gun dog training, AKC/HRC hunt test training, AKC field trial training and obedience training. Obedience is a month-long program where the dog stays at the facility, and at the end Nate works with the owner so the dog succeeds at home. It costs $950 a month, covering everything except food. Day care guests can add obedience refresher sessions.
Boarding and day care
Day care dogs have 8 acres of countryside with ponds and nature walks. The 3,000-square-foot boarding building has stainless-steel kennels, 8×8 private suites with TVs and a 2,000-square-foot airing yard. A pet taxi is also offered.
What owners say
One client wrote that their lab "gets to swim and retrieve bumpers every day."
