About Cooperative Canine Concepts – Dog Training

Specialty courses run at venues on both sides of the metro

Cooperative Canine Concepts describes itself on its homepage with three check-marked claims, "Humane," "Effective" and "Science Based," and names three kinds of dog it works with: "Pets," "Police K9" and "Therapy Dogs." Its contact block gives the service area as "Quad Cities IA/IL" with a phone number of 469-450-8118 and an email address rather than a street address, and enrollment is handled by text message.

The course that is actually open

The homepage advertises its upcoming specialty courses as "Held in Moline, IL & Davenport, IA." The one described in full is From Thrill to Chill, which teaches dogs "to shift from high arousal (Thrill) to calm (Chill) using structured play and impulse control techniques," with work on drive capping, a strong place or stay, and settling in new environments. The business publishes a fee for it directly on the homepage: 6 weeks, $250. It is also candid about fit, saying the course "isn't the best for truly reactive dogs" and inviting owners of reactive dogs to ask to be placed in a more suitable course.

Guides, and a page still under construction

A large part of the homepage is a catalog of downloadable PDF guides under the DOGTOK label, covering dog-to-dog introductions, problem barking, head halter conditioning for loose leash walking, dog-safe homes for kids and guests, bell training, potty training, muzzle conditioning, crate training, resource guarding and a socialization checklist. The site credits these to "our certified dog trainers" but names no certification and no trainer. The About page carries no biography at all: it returns the line "Sorry, Under Construction," so anyone wanting background on who teaches the courses will need to ask.
