About Darkwater Retrievers

Retriever training in Cleveland

Darkwater Retrievers is a working dog training program in Cleveland, northeast of Houston, that has trained retrievers since 2014. Its focus is dependable, high-performing dogs for the field and for hunt test competition, from young dogs getting started to seasoned dogs being finished.

Roots and approach

The program describes itself as directly related to Omar Driskill, founder of the Hunting Retriever Club (HRC), and says that heritage drives the expectations for every dog in its kennel. Training is structured and consistent, aimed at a confident, disciplined retriever you can trust every time you send it.

What to ask

Darkwater invites owners to schedule a site visit and talk through their goals. Ask about program length, pricing, and whether a dog boards in the kennel during training. Hours are Monday to Friday, 7am to 4pm, at (936) 436-3620.
