What they offer

Discovery Canine Adventures brings dog training to the Long Beach Peninsula, with group classes in Ocean Park and private lessons across Chinook, Naselle, Ocean Park, Long Beach, Ilwaco, Seaview and Raymond. Its trainer, Heather Campbell, has shown and trained dogs for decades, titles dogs in obedience, rally and other sports, and works with behavior cases and rescues using a positive, play-and-reward approach.

Classes

Group classes rotate from basic obedience to competition training. The six-week Foundation and Basics class covers attention, place and stay, loose-leash walking, sit, down and stand, and grooming and handling, with a first session without dogs. A six-week Canine Good Citizen course ends with the AKC test, and Urban Manners takes trained dogs into public settings for ongoing practice.

Private and residential training

Private lessons of about an hour suit focused problems, including reactive or fearful dogs. Day training takes dogs on socialization outings and life-skills work, and in the board and train program dogs live with the trainer for one to four weeks, joining classes and outings, with no e-collars used.
