About Dog Tag Buddies
Service dogs for veterans
Dog Tag Buddies is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit based at 924 Pine Ridge Ln in Billings that trains service dogs with veterans living with the invisible wounds of war. Veterans pair with a dog as a puppy and go through training together as a team, which the organization calls training for both ends of the leash. The program aims to help veterans manage the symptoms of hidden injuries, reduce self-isolation and find a renewed sense of purpose.
Accreditation and reach
Dog Tag Buddies is accredited by Assistance Dogs International (ADI) and says it is the only ADI-accredited organization in Montana. It has built a network of seven locations across the state and can help with fuel costs for those traveling more than 100 miles one way. Besides the veteran service dog program, it offers obedience training for pet dogs, with proceeds supporting the mission, as well as QPR suicide-prevention training and a caregiver support network.
What owners say
