About dog4ewe
Stock dog training in Clay Center
Dog4Ewe is the Clay Center home of herding trainer and judge John Holman, known for his DOG4EWE Border Collies. John began his love of stockdogs in 1980 and has extensive experience with many herding breeds, including Bearded Collies, Australian Cattle Dogs, Australian Shepherds, Corgis, Shelties and Kelpies. He is a licensed AKC, AHBA and USBCHA judge, and credits include a record 11 wins at the National Western Stock Show, repeated top ten finishes at the USBCHA National Cattle Dog Finals, and the 2014 USBCHA National Champion Cattle Dog, Lee.
Training and lessons
Board and train is available to a limited number of dogs at the Clay Center facility, for farm and ranch work or for trial work in USBCHA, ASCA, AHBA or AKC, and handling services are offered too. John's positive philosophy teaches dogs to use their natural ability in cooperation with the handler, and he aims for lessons that are quiet, calm and slow paced. Lessons run year round by appointment, starting in a small round pen and working up to open field work in a 5 acre pasture. "We teach you how to teach the dog!"
Clinics and judging
John teaches one-day and multi-day herding clinics for handlers of all experience levels, with each dog worked twice a day, and is available for judging and demonstrations.
