About Humane Society of Huron Valley

About the Humane Society of Huron Valley

HSHV is Washtenaw County's animal shelter, at 3100 Cherry Hill Rd, Ann Arbor, MI 48105, phone

(734) 662-5585. Its own account: "For more than 125 years, the Humane Society of Huron Valley has

been serving the community, saving animals and helping people. HSHV is still the only animal

shelter in Washtenaw County, taking in all types of unwanted, injured, lost, stray, abandoned, and

abused animals. Today, we help over 24,000 animals and their people through our array of services

every year." The stated mission is "To support the loving, responsible care of all animals in our

community." It has been operating since 1896 and is "classified as a 'no-kill' shelter, as defined

by Maddie's Fund".

Dog training at the shelter

Dog Training appears twice in the site's own navigation — once under GET HELP alongside "Behavior

help", and once under LEARN & ENJOY. The classes themselves are run by an outside trainer: Harmony

Dog Training publishes that it is "a proud partner of the Humane Society of Huron Valley" and that

"Through our partnership, we offer the following classes at their beautiful Ann Arbor facility",

naming "outdoor puppy preschool, basic manners and reactive rover classes". Harmony's own

schedule and registration run through HSHV.
