About K9 Academy New England

Training dogs and people

K9 Academy New England, formerly K9 Academy of Revere, teaches dog training classes and private lessons north of Boston, serving Medford along with Revere, Chelsea, Everett, Saugus, Melrose, Stoneham, Peabody, Lynnfield, Middleton and most North Shore towns. Joe Ferraro is the certified trainer and proprietor, and Linda Ferraro is office manager and co-proprietor. Its motto: "We train dogs…and people."

Classes and lessons

Classes are available at both levels. Private lessons are by appointment for dogs up to 8 years old, and Joe customizes a program for each dog and owner, working through positive reinforcement and consistency. Boarding is available for dogs up to 35 pounds.

Behavior help

The academy takes on aggression toward dogs or people, which it treats with leadership and obedience training, and squabbling between dogs in multi-dog homes. For separation anxiety it can work with a dog's veterinarian on a behavior program. The academy credits Rubus Von Ritterberg, a long-haired German Shepherd, as its demonstration dog of 11 1/2 years.
