About Kevlar K9 Academy

Veteran-owned training in San Antonio

Kevlar K9 Academy is a veteran owned and operated dog training academy at 1031 Donaldson Ave in San Antonio. Its motto is "Training both ends of the leash": the team uses positive, relationship-first training to help owners and dogs understand each other, and builds bonds through positive reinforcement rather than fear.

Programs

Every client starts with a free, no-pressure consultation to meet the dog, talk through goals and recommend a program. Board and train keeps the dog at the academy for an immersive stretch of daily one-on-one training. Private lessons come in 4- or 8-week packages so owner and dog learn together. Pet boarding is available whether or not a dog trains there. The team trains puppies through adult dogs and helps with jumping, biting and nipping, leash pulling, resource guarding, difficult behavior and manners. Reactive dogs are assessed individually to build a safe, realistic plan.

Approach

Training centers on communication, teaching owners to read and respond to their dogs; accountability, through consistent and structured training in a safe environment; and lifelong support with questions and tune-ups.
