About Legion K9

Legion K9 in Nevada, Texas

Legion K9 is a dog training and detection company based in Nevada, Texas, run by owner and head trainer John Tarman. A former Infantry Marine, he says he started with basic pet obedience, then moved into the police and military K9 community through K9 school and training seminars. He lists the credentials CPDDT, CBBDDT, ABCDT and PDT, and the team includes an explosive detection German Shepherd and narcotic detection dogs.

Programs

Obedience training covers sit, stay, here, down, heel, off and place, with an advanced level that moves the same work off leash and adds long-distance recall. Board and train runs two or four weeks with John and includes private lessons for the owner. Private lessons are also sold on their own. Behavior modification addresses anxiety, aggression, avoidance and fear, alongside environmental training, desensitization, detection training for working or sport dogs, and service dog training (retrieval, PTSD and detection tasks). Puppy training can start before vaccinations are complete and works on nipping, chewing and accidents. The company also decoys for local police K9 teams.

What owners say
