About Liggett Dog Training, LLC

Liggett Dog Training is a one-trainer practice covering the Southern Tier from a base in Allegany County, and its services page is titled, plainly, "Dog Training Olean NY." The business launched in April 2022 out of what the owner describes as a pet sitting business that turned into training requests, went full-time in 2025, and says it has helped over 600 dog-owning families across the Southern Tier.

What is on offer

Five things: puppy training, obedience, behavior modification, group lessons and virtual training, with a Canine Adventure MasterClass added as a one-hour session where the dog goes out to train without the owner. Puppy training covers obedience, socialization and handler development, and there is a separate puppy class for dogs under five months, after which dogs are encouraged to move up to the general dog training class. Obedience is described for dogs of any age, including the ones that "only seem to listen when you have a treat in your hand." The behavior modification work is listed as separation anxiety, reactivity, fear, over-excitement, aggression and leash pulling.

Group classes and where they happen

Group lessons are the distinctive part. Puppy classes, dog training classes and Prep for Off Leash classes run regularly, with treadmill training roughly once a quarter, and the site is explicit about geography: "Classes are held around the Southern Tier with a regular group in Cuba, NY." It also invites owners to request a class in their own town, which is a sensible answer to a catchment where the nearest class can otherwise be forty minutes away. For people outside the area, or who prefer it, virtual sessions cover the same topics and can include a review of a short video of the dog.

Pricing and first contact

This is one of the few trainers anywhere in the two counties that says anything about money. The site notes that most trainers do not post their prices and offers to email the full list of services, rates and policies, with prices honored for thirty days from the email. The first step is a free twenty-minute phone consultation with the owner before any work is agreed.

Where it is based

It travels to classes and clients rather than working from one street address. Cuba is where its regular group class meets; its own description of its catchment is the Southern Tier and surrounding areas.
