About Mya & Mutts Dog Training

About

Mya & Mutts Dog Training in Racine bills itself as "A positive approach to training." The About page is written in the first person by Mya, who says "I have been working with dogs for over 10 years" and that she holds "a certification from the renowned Karen Pryor Academy," continuing her education "through an apprenticeship with Who's a Good Boy Ind., a respected organization based out of New York City," and working "with the Wisconsin Humane Society as a behavioral advisor." The page traces the start of the work to a rescued dog who "came to me with human and dog aggression" and the realization that "Obedience wasn't going to be enough."

Method

The services page states the position clearly: "we believe in using the most humane and ethical methods we know" and "We use reward-based and relationship-based methods for the safest approach."

Programs

Every program "starts with a behavior assessment and foundation skills," and clients get "access to a support line via text where any questions you have can be asked and can submit videos to get feedback throughout your training journey." One-on-one sessions run up to 120 minutes at $120-200 each. Bosterious to Bonded covers "obedience cues to better help you manage your home" including "loose leash walking, place, waiting at thresholds, no jumping, recall, and more." Puptastic Times is "for dogs up to 9 months old" and covers "enrichment and socialization exercises" plus "good habits that will stick." Reactive-to-Relaxed is "tailored for dogs with those big feelings," split into a management plan and a deeper option aimed at "changing the emotions behind it."

Format and area

The business offers "both in-person and virtual sessions," with in-person work "located in home, or at a specific location that will work with what you need to focus on," and says it travels "up to 40 miles outside of Racine (traveling fees apply)." Adventure walks of 60 minutes at $60 are also listed; in-facility day training is listed on the site as coming soon.
