About Primitive Dog LLC

Primitive Dog describes itself as a canine training center offering board and train, a day camp, puppy training and private training, with boarding alongside. The site says the business specializes in dogs with special needs and warns that it is a small place that books up quickly.

Method

The published method is Natural Dog Training, the approach founded by Kevin Behan. The site explains it as using five core exercises to give a dog coping mechanisms for real-world situations, with the stated aim of obedience that comes from attraction and bond rather than from commands or dominance – its own phrase is "obedience without a single word". Owners are taught to see the situation through the dog's eyes as part of the program.

Setting

The center is at 912 Charlton Road in Schenectady, and combines training, rehabilitation and boarding on one site.
