About Project K9
Training in Hurricane
Project K9 is a dog training, boarding and daycare business in Hurricane, run from upgraded space in the owners' own home. It offers board and trains for busy families or dogs that need more help, private lessons that involve the whole family, day training that adds training time while you work, and group classes. It works with puppies as young as 8 weeks and with dogs of all ages and behavior backgrounds. Dogs in its luxury boarding stay in the home, and doggie daycare fills the day with activities.
Approach and trainer
The team calls its methods relationship-focused and results-driven, using clear communication, consistency and the right tools for each individual dog. Owner and head trainer Heather Bruley has been a professional dog trainer since 2012. Her credentials include IACP membership (associate in 2013, professional in 2018), certification from Martin Deeley's International School of Dog Training Professionals, certificates from a Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies animal welfare course and Training Cesar's Way Fundamentals I, and years of workshops with K9 Lifeline.
What owners say
One owner of a Great Dane wrote that Heather "has given us tools to work with our dog. She is much calmer and more well-behaved."
