About Rapid City Kennel Club

A Rapid City dog club since 1961

The Rapid City Kennel Club is a non-profit, AKC licensed club serving western South Dakota, established in 1961. It is dedicated to the advancement of purebred dogs and has approximately 80 members.

Training and events

The club provides dog training classes, workshops and seminars for Canine Good Citizen, conformation, obedience, responsible dog ownership, rally, agility, Earthdog and other dog-related events. It hosts four annual all-breed dog shows and a yearly Responsible Dog Ownership Day, and its workshops cover topics such as obedience, pet care and canine first aid. The 2026 show is set for October 9-11 at the James Kjestad Events Center. Regular meetings are held on the fourth Wednesday of odd months, and guests are welcome.
