About Rex’s Place

Evanston day care, cage-free boarding and a K9 sports arena on one site

Rex's Place operates at 2120 Ashland in Evanston, describing itself on its home page as "Evanston's day care/cage-free boarding facility, Rex's Place boarding house and NOW Rex's K9 Sports Arena". The site says the business was "Awarded Best Evanston Dog Day Care in 2025" and was founded around one core belief: "No one wants to be left home alone, including your dog."

The facility

The about page credits the site with over 24,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor play areas, and lists a separate "gentle room" that doubles as a nap room with classical music alongside a play area described as ready for "the rough and rugged". The home page adds a big dog playroom with half-inch rubber flooring, a dedicated enrichment space, outdoor play space, skylit indoor play rooms, curbside dropoff and pickup, and Facebook and Instagram feeds posting photos from the day's play. The about page states that each member of staff is certified in Animal CPR and First Aid and that all staff have been trained and educated on dog behavior.

Training

The training page groups the work into three areas the site names as athletic, obedience and enrichment. Athletic training is listed as K9 Sports, with agility and rally described as being for all dogs and owners. Obedience is described as game-based, and the site's Stages program is presented as covering every stage of a dog's life. Enrichment covers tricks and scent work. The home page sums up the approach as play-based training delivered inside day care and boarding, with positive reinforcement and specialized programs for young puppies. Current classes are listed under the site's Classes menu; some puppy obedience and agility items on the training page are marked "Details Coming Soon".

Boarding and day care

Boarding is offered in kennel and cage-free forms, with the site describing crate-free boarding for approved day care clients as including 24-hour supervised play, sleep and care, single and double kennels, and pick-up and drop-off service available if arranged in advance. Day care, spa services and a puppy camp also appear in the site's navigation.
