About Rocking Paw Dog Training & Kennel Suites

Country training center in Ropesville

Rocking Paw Dog Training & Kennel Suites is a dog training center and small kennel in the West Texas countryside in Ropesville, on its own 10 acres with the owners' home on the property, close enough to Lubbock for clients. Trainer Jolynn Payne has been involved with training dogs since 1993, passed the CPDT-KA (Certified Professional Dog Trainer, Knowledge Assessed) examination in the fall of 2014, is a member of the Association of Professional Dog Trainers and the IAABC, and serves as VP of the Heart of the Plains Kennel Club. She also opened her own agility business, Just4Fun Dog Agility and Training. Her philosophy is to bond owner and dog through positive reinforcement, training what you want the dog to do and following LIMA (least intrusive, minimally aversive).

Classes and board and train

The 1600 square foot indoor training center hosts Puppy basics (10 weeks to 7 months), Basic, Intermediate, CGC prep, AKC Community Canine, AKC Urban Canine, Agility, Disc, Freestyle, Rally, Trick, Therapy dog and Scent Work classes, with schedules posted on Facebook. Board and train suits owners whose schedules make group or private classes hard, with progress videos through the week and weekly owner sessions.
