About RUFF Around The Edges Llc.

What they offer

RUFF Around The Edges is a family-owned dog training, boarding and daycare business on North Avenue in Grand Junction. Its training page covers basic obedience, such as teaching a dog to sit and lie down on command, specialized training for behavioral issues, puppy training and agility training. New clients can ask for a free training consultation, and the site says prices vary with the dog's behavior and size.

How they train

Before addressing a problem, the trainer looks at five areas of a dog's life: health, purpose, socialization, the bond with the family, and breed-specific exercise needs. The about page describes a philosophy that training should be fun, innovative and growl-free.

About the trainer

Master Trainer Lance Ferguson started with animals growing up on a farm and showing in 4-H. The about page says he holds a Master Trainer certificate in canine behavioral modification and has helped children with autism get skilled canine companions.

Good to know

The business also runs a boarding kennel and doggy daycare, and has a lobby monitor where owners can watch their dogs.
