About Shield Kennels

What they offer

Shield Kennels near Rose is a German Shepherd kennel that now runs group training classes. Its training page lists Puppy Preschool for puppies of 10 to 14 weeks (socialization, confidence-building, crate exercises and basic house manners), a six-week Puppy Kindergarten, the AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy program, and 20 Steps for Success Adult Basics for dogs six months and older, including recent adult rescues.

Next levels

An Intermediate class takes those skills into parks and dog-friendly stores, and an Advanced & Canine Good Citizen class works through the ten steps of the AKC Canine Good Citizen test, with the evaluation offered as an option. Classes take 5 to 10 dogs, and the page says dogs with aggressive traits are not accepted in the group setting.

Before you book

Owners fill out a training class application and send vaccination records. The boarding page says the kennel does not offer boarding or board and train. Ask about the next class start date when you apply.
