About Sit N Stay Dog Academy

A family-run academy in Tampa

Sit N Stay Dog Academy is a family-owned dog training academy at 10401 Wilsky Blvd in Tampa that calls itself Tampa Bay's premier dog training academy. Founder Clarke Inghram began as a canine trainer, handler and instructor for K9 handlers in the US Air Force after being drafted in 1969, and ran the academy with his daughter, Shalli. He is now formally retired but stays involved. The academy credits its trainers with over 50 years of combined experience.

Method

The academy's mission centers on treat-free training. Its philosophy is natural canine communication using movement, tones and praise, with a balanced combination of love and discipline, and training for the whole household with the goal of taking a dog "Off Leash for Life".

Programs

Obedience levels run from puppy training for dogs under two years and basic training for older dogs through intermediate, advanced and custom training. Specialty programs cover therapy dogs, search and rescue, aggression and reactivity modification and service dogs. There are group classes, kids group classes and pack walks, plus boarding, day care and grooming.
