Bird dog training

Smith Kennels is Ronnie and Susanna Smith's bird dog training business on their Prairie Hills Ranch in northern Osage County, at 1377 County Road 4790 near Pawhuska. They train pointing dogs with the method developed in the Smith family, also known as the Delmar Smith Method, the Silent Command System and Huntsmith. Two small training classes a year at the Oklahoma facility work on steadiness on birds, handling cues and general bird dog manners.

Seminars and more

The couple also teach weekend bird dog training seminars across the country, offer a three-month apprenticeship for people who want to train professionally, and board sporting dog breeds.

History

The about page says Ronnie Smith Sr. started the kennels in 1956 in Big Cabin, Oklahoma, Ronnie took over in 1982, and Ronnie and Susanna have trained dogs together since 2006.
