About Sunny Skies Retrievers

Hunting retrievers in Lenore

Sunny Skies Retrievers is a small, veteran owned and operated kennel in Lenore, run by Sunny Freeman. It breeds, trains and campaigns Labrador Retrievers in AKC and HRC hunt tests, and offers gun dog training alongside Labrador puppies.

Training approach

The goal is a strong partnership between owner and hunting dog. Sunny Skies builds a dog's confidence by teaching the skills it needs to succeed and reinforcing them throughout the learning process. Once a dog is trained, the owner is trained too, so they can handle their dog as well as possible, whether the aim is passing hunt tests or a dog that stays steady and quiet in the duck blind.

What to ask

Ask about training rates, program length, whether training is offered for dogs not bred at the kennel, and hunt test preparation.
