About T’s Doghouse

Leadership-based training from Farr West

T's Doghouse is a family-owned dog training business in Farr West built around Talmage Smedley's work with animals. Its focus goes beyond tricks: it teaches owners the leadership and communication principles that build a truly remarkable relationship with their dog, so issues such as selective obedience or territorial behavior fall into place.

Courses and coaching

T's Doghouse offers online video courses, including foundational courses, a Dogs in the Home course and gun dog courses, along with Q&A sessions and 30-minute virtual one-on-one coaching calls with Talmage about individual training needs. In-person training is available by contacting the team, and a library of training articles covers topics such as the root causes of bad behavior, jumping, anxiety, positive markers and puppy foundations.

The trainer

Talmage trained reining horses professionally starting in 1995 for more than 20 years and won titles including Utah Futurity Champion and Utah Derby Champion. He bought his first English Setter at 13, and his dog breeding, training and competing experience spans pointing, flushing and retrieving bird dogs and other sporting and working breeds, including champions and national qualifiers.
