About The Northwest Dog Trainer
What they offer
The Northwest Dog Trainer works from its own facility on Pacific Highway South in Des Moines. A six-week Saturday puppy class covers socialization, confidence, calm behavior and leash manners, with no evaluation needed. After an evaluation, adult dogs can start an eight-session On-Leash Obedience package of private and group work on sit, down, stay, place, loose-leash walking and greetings, or a sixteen-session Advanced Obedience package that adds off-leash recall, help with reactivity and aggression, confidence building, public outings and preparation for the AKC Canine Good Citizen test with an evaluator on site. A board and train program ends with hand-off sessions so owners learn what their dog has learned.
How they train
The trainers describe reward-based techniques and a relationship approach centered on clear communication that works at home, on walks and around distractions.
About the trainers
Marcus Wright founded the business in 2019 after years of training dogs for friends and family; the team includes lead trainer Jeremy Renard.
