About The Proper Puppy PNW
What they offer
The Proper Puppy combines elements of the sport dog world with real family home-life obedience. Its puppy program teaches owners to communicate with a puppy, manage it at home and adapt through developmental stages and fear periods. For adult dogs it works through destructive, demanding or unresponsive behavior and separation anxiety, and its one-on-one private sessions help with reactive, shy or fearful dogs and with bringing a rescue into the family. Focus areas include loose leash walking, recall, heel, duration and distance, crate training and quiet and bed commands, and the behaviors it addresses include jumping, mouthing, nuisance barking, leash reactivity, bolting through doorways, fence fighting, counter surfing and resource guarding. A commitment of seven to eight sessions is recommended.
How they train
The trainer describes a balanced, handler-focused approach: motivation first, understanding next and correction if needed, starting with treats and moving to toy rewards, with e-collars used in some cases.
