What they offer

The Sassy Trainer runs in-person obedience classes at its indoor, air-conditioned training facility in Pahrump on Monday and Saturday afternoons, with up to eight dogs per class, and sells online courses for owners who train at home. The trainer can also arrange to hold training at a location of the owner's choice. Classes target everyday problems such as chewing, jumping, nipping, nuisance barking, ignoring recall and pulling on walks, and the site says the system works for puppies, older dogs, show dogs and service dogs. Owners whose dogs have other challenges can book a meeting in person or by video call.

How they train

Classes follow the trainer's own five-step system, practiced for about five minutes a day. The site sums up its philosophy as: "We don't push, pull, or drag the dogs."

About the trainer

The instructor, Tynia Dickson, describes herself as a dog behavior specialist and certified service dog trainer, an Army veteran, and a former kennel owner who has trained and competed in obedience, agility, rally and herding.
