About Veterans Canine Intelligence Academy

What they offer

Veterans Canine Intelligence Academy is a nonprofit organization of professional dog trainers in Irvine that helps disabled military veterans and first responders train their own dog as a service dog, free of charge. It can also help a veteran locate a dog to train.

Weekly training

Weekly service dog training sessions use positive reinforcement and cover obedience for service dogs, public transportation training on buses, trains and taxis, AKC Canine Good Citizen training and testing, and public access training and testing around traffic, public buildings, restaurants, doors, stairs and elevators.

Other help

The organization also helps with benefit questions and, through a legal partner, with housing or employment issues related to a service dog.
