About Western Waukesha County Dog
What the club is
The Western Waukesha County Dog Training Club, which shares its site with the Bark River Dog Club, is a member-run training club based at W1314 Cedar Drive, Ixonia. Its navigation sets out the shape of the organization: general information, a calendar, a newsletter, membership, and then the training itself, grouped as "Puppies and Manners, Agility, Obedience & Rally, Conformation, Run-Thrus." Different email addresses are published for different jobs, including one specifically for puppy and manners classes and another for all other classes.
The classes
The club teaches across the four groups named in its own menu. Puppies and Manners is the entry point and has its own dedicated contact address. Obedience and Rally, Agility and Conformation make up the rest, and Run-Thrus are offered as practice sessions with their own dated form published on the site for 2026.
The events calendar
Much of the home page is given over to trials the club runs, each with a downloadable premium and entry form: a "UKC Agility Trial September 19-29," "Detective Trials November 6," and "Scent Work November 7-8," alongside the run-thru dates. The club notes on its own page that "VOLUNTEERS are always in HIGH DEMAND at WWCDTC Events."
History, in the club's words
The about page reprints a member-written history, adapted with permission from an article by Elaine Shaw, and is careful about its own dating: the version on the site is marked "edited March 2024" and says the club "has discovered how to bark up the right tree for almost 49 years," adding "we are currently entering into our 49th year in 2024." It records that "in February 1975, Jeanne Sikora placed an ad in a local newspaper for persons interested in organizing a dog training club," that the purpose "was to be based in 'a trained dog is a happy dog, resulting in a happy owner and happy neighbors,'" and that the first meeting was held on March 6 in her driveway. The founding names listed beside Jeanne and her son Keith are Margaret Cass, Jim Southcott, Barbara Dressinger, Sue Feldstein, Sur Hingiss, Marlene Dawson, Sandy Nelson and Don Williquette, "who demonstrated various obedience exercises with his Golden Retriever." A meeting on March 7 at the Trackside Supper Club on Highway 18 in Wales set "the time and place for dog obedience classes," and the history says the plan was for "puppy classes, basic obedience classes, and advanced show training for those desiring it." The original name, it notes, "was to be 'All-Breed Dog Training Club', a non-profit service club for Waukesha County residents."
Practical notes
Class schedules and fees are published through the club's own class pages and printable documents rather than in the text we hold, so no figure is quoted here. The site also flags that "images and documents may appear different on mobile devices," and a mailing address at P.O. Box 223, Ixonia is given for correspondence.
