About Willful K9

Obedience training, boarding and daycare under one owner

Willful K9 works under the motto "If there's a will there's a way," with a stated purpose of "enhancing the human-canine bond through professional training." The site describes specializing in "obedience training, dog boarding, and daycare to enhance your dog's skills and comfort," with tailored programs focused on obedience and socialization.

Method in their own words

The trainer describes having "dedicated my career to understanding canine behavior and developing practical, results-driven training methods" across "dogs of all breeds and temperaments." The emphasis throughout is on the owner-dog relationship rather than commands alone, with programs framed around strengthening that bond.

Background

The about section is written in the first person: "My name is William Diaz, and I am the owner and founder of Willful K9." He credits himself with "over a decade of hands-on experience working with dogs," and the site elsewhere states "over 10 years of experience." The origin story given is his own dog: "My passion for dog training began at the age of 14 with my first dog, Rican, an American Pit Bull Terrier. Rican was highly food-motivated but struggled with leash reactivity, particularly toward other dogs, as well as squirrels, rabbits, and cats." He notes the reactivity appeared only on leash and outdoors, and that working through it "sparked my deep interest in canine behavior and set me on the path to becoming a professional dog trainer" — relevant context for owners bringing a leash-reactive dog.
