About Devoted K-9
Devoted K-9 is Chris's training business, based out of Franklin and working across the Nashville area. The site states the method up front – "We practice an ethical and well-balanced training methodology" – and the business travels to clients: "We can drive to you!"
What you can book here
Two programs are published: In-Home Training and a Board & Train Program. The board-and-train takes a deposit because space is limited, which is stated plainly on the contact page. The site asks you to call, text or email to schedule a consultation or session; ask about prices and program lengths then.
What the training targets
The framing is everyday liability behaviors rather than sport or working-dog work: dogs that pull or lunge on the leash, jump on people, counter-surf or bolt. The site's recurring line is that obedience is what turns a dog from "a stressful liability" into "a family friend you can trust". It works with all ages and breeds and pushes owners to start at the puppy stage – "A solid foundation of obedience makes a tremendous difference down the road." The business describes itself as working on results rather than tricks, and says it does not give up on a case.
Background
Chris's route into training was indirect and the site tells it in full. He earned an Eagle Scout award at fifteen and went through the Franklin Police Explorers program wanting to become a K9 officer or park ranger. With national park funding withheld that year he became an arborist instead, ran a small tree-care company for over a decade, and a climbing injury ended that career. He then joined the Sheriff's Department hoping to work canines, and after a brief employment with Williamson County went to study at Animal Behavior College. He cites Randy Hare as a mentor and quotes the lesson he took from him: "put the dog before the dollar."
What clients describe
The testimonials published on the site are about weekly in-home work and about the owner learning to do the training – one client writes that "Learning to do most of the training ourselves is very rewarding too", another that the trainer "thoroughly explained every aspect of the training so we understood the reasons why the specific behaviors were placed on him." Named problems solved include jumping, counter-surfing, leash pulling and bolting.
Who this suits
Franklin and greater Nashville owners who want a single balanced trainer coming to the house, and who prefer being taught to handle the dog themselves over a pure hand-back.
