About Rock Kennel Training

Manners, self-control and socialization in Shabbona

Rock Kennel Training works out of Shabbona in DeKalb County under the tagline "Helping Your Dog Become the Best Version of Themselves." The home page introduces trainer Lauren Sanderson, saying she "has been training dogs for over 15 years and specializes in the areas of manners training, self control, and socialization for both pet owners and rescue groups." The rescue-and-shelter side is not incidental – it has its own service page alongside the pet-owner programs.

Method

The training-style page is unusually direct about tools. It says the business balances "holding your dog accountable for outward behaviors while also showing compassion for why they did the behavior in the first place," and states plainly: "yes we use e-collars and yes we use clickers (positive reinforcement – marker training). It doesn't have to be one or the other." Owners who have a firm preference either way will know where they stand before they call.

Programs listed

The site's navigation lists an e-collar program, doggie daycare, rescue and shelter services, a playgroup socialization package, a color-coded dog training program, a Heart Set Free program, PE classes, recently-adopted support, and Marco Polo video support between sessions. Gift cards are also offered. The site invites you to send a message so Lauren can talk through options for your specific dog rather than picking a package cold.
