About Simanovich Protection Dog

Wayne Simanovich Protection Dogs works from an Emmanuel Church Road address in Conover and does one thing: it breeds, raises and trains protection dogs, then places them with families and individuals. It has been doing that since 1978, and the business trades under the name Huggable Security.

What is actually on offer

This is not a training school, and it is important to be clear about that before calling. You do not bring your dog here. The business sells finished dogs: fully trained adult German Shepherds and Belgian Malinois, trained adolescents of both breeds, and working puppies. Published prices run from $4,500 for the youngest stock up to $65,000 at the top of the trained adult range, and dogs are delivered to the buyer.

How the dogs are produced

The founder writes that he personally selects all genetic material for breeding and sets the standard every dog has to meet, and that staff spend months with each dog, some of them having worked there for more than thirty years. The competitive record published on the site includes national, world team, North American and regional championship titles in working-dog sport.

The point the site makes well

The site is direct about the state of its own industry: there is no license to earn, no board to answer to and no minimum standard anyone has to meet, so anyone can call themselves a protection dog trainer. That is true, and it is worth carrying into any conversation about protection work anywhere – ask what titles exist, who awarded them and when.
