About Lost Highway – Gun Dog Kennels
Lost Highway Kennels works from McGee Road in Winston-Salem and trains bird dogs. The site's three entry points are put plainly on the front page: "I Am… Looking For My Next Gun Dog / In Need Of A Trainer / Interested in Your Workshops".
The training menu
Four things are published under Training and Workshops: individual lessons, offered in person or virtually; Gundog Group Classes; Wild Bird Training Hunts; and Workshops with an events calendar and mailing list.
What a residency dog's day looks like
The kennel describes field and obedience training for every dog in residence, and then goes further: the dog accompanies the family on daily errands, relaxes in "place" during office hours, and spends time interacting with the family and guests. The argument the site makes for this is practical – when a hunter and their partners enjoy having the dog around, the dog is in the field more often.
Who runs it and what else is here
The site names Grayson Guyer and says he grew up in North Carolina around bird dogs, and that in 1999, while serving as a US Navy Corpsman, he was given the opportunity to assist military working dog handlers at Camp Lejeune with routine training, which is where his interest in working dogs began.
The kennel also breeds and sells Epagneul Breton (French Brittanys) and Labrador Retrievers, and runs a Learning Center with a blog, the Companion Gundog Podcast, lesson notes and a Woodcock 101 resource.
Who it’s best for
