About Other People’s Pets
Other People's Pets has served Brooklyn pets since 2002 from 403 Van Brunt St in Red Hook, describing itself as a small, dedicated team providing personalized pet care in southwest Brooklyn. It has, in its own words, cared for generations of neighborhood pets.
Two named training services
Puppy training is described as positive, practical support to help a puppy develop good habits from the start, addressing housebreaking, leash walking, basic commands, socialization and everyday routines – with guidance the owner can continue at home, which is the part that determines whether puppy training holds. Dog training is personalized work for dogs who need help with manners and everyday skills, using patient, positive techniques on leash behavior, basic commands, responsiveness and other goals identified with the owner.
Why the neighborhood matters here
Red Hook is one of the more isolated parts of Brooklyn – cut off from the subway, with a distinct local dog community – and a business that has worked the same streets since 2002 knows which routes, waterfront paths and quiet blocks suit a dog that struggles with traffic or crowds. That local knowledge is not a training credential, but it is a practical advantage in leash work.
The rest of the services
Thirty-minute and fifteen-minute neighborhood walks, in-home cat and pet visits, and in-home pet sitting while the owner is away. Booking is done through the site, with training enquiries quoted individually rather than priced on the page.
What to ask
An owner comparing this against the certified trainers nearby in Carroll Gardens and Cobble Hill should ask who would take the sessions and what training credentials they hold.
