About Big Red Doghouse

Big Red Doghouse is the daycare and training arm of East Greenbush Animal Hospital on Columbia Turnpike, and it operates under the same standard of care as the practice. For an owner, the practical draw is that the training happens inside a veterinary facility.

Training with Sara

The site names Sara as the head of the training program at East Greenbush Animal Hospital and describes her interest as teaching owners to build relationships with their dogs on trust, mutual understanding and fun. Obedience training is listed among the practice's own services alongside boarding, grooming and daycare.

The daycare side

The daycare occupies several large play areas on rubber flooring, with supervised play in well-matched groups and solid play structures for physical exercise and mental stimulation. There is a separate room for nap time and for lunch or snacks for younger dogs and puppies. Every dog must pass a temperament evaluation conducted by trained handlers before an application is accepted, and owners fill in a questionnaire about their dog's social preferences so the facility can judge whether group play suits them at all.

Hours and access

The building is a 7,200 square foot open-plan facility designed to minimize stress, open weekdays from 7:30am, with Saturday morning hours and closed Sundays. Booking is online or by phone.
