About CNY Canine Academy

CNY Canine Academy runs out of 73 East Genesee Street in Baldwinsville and describes itself as a different kind of pet care: training, boarding, daycare and grooming under one roof, with the training menu the largest part of the site.

Group classes

The class list the academy publishes runs wider than most: obedience from basic manners through advanced competition level, scent work and nose work, conformation handling, rally, CGC and therapy prep, trick dog and AKC STAR Puppy. Classes are taught in small groups across several different venues, with the dog and owner working as a team.

Private training and behavior consults

Private sessions are offered for owners who prefer one-on-one work, or for dogs the academy judges are not ready for a group setting; the site says a private lesson can cover any venue or focus on one specific problem. Separately it advertises behavior consulting for reactivity and aggression toward other dogs or people, food and toy possessiveness, shyness and fear-related issues, and separation anxiety.

Specialized classes

A third track is a set of short, targeted classes each built around one goal, listed on the site as Reactive Rover, Puppy Enrichment and Social Skills, Confident Canine, Body Awareness and Conditioning, and Attention and Timing.

Practicalities

The academy is open 6am to 6pm on weekdays with restricted weekend drop-off and pickup windows, and is closed for drop-offs on six holidays. Booking for daycare, boarding and grooming is done through the site, and new clients register online before a first visit.
