Justin’s Canine Campus
Overview
About Justin’s Canine Campus
Justin's Canine Campus sits on Route 31 in Clay and states plainly at the top of every page that it does not offer boarding. What it does offer is daycare, grooming and obedience training, the last of these run by the owner himself.
The trainer
The site says Justin brings over thirty years of experience, has managed canine facilities across the country, has carried out behavior evaluations for animal shelters and rescue groups, has done mold-detection scent work, and is an evaluator for canine therapy certification. His stated approach is to tailor the training both to the owner's needs and to the dog's breed, on the grounds that understanding breed-specific behavior is what makes correcting behavior possible.
Classes and price
Basic Obedience is a six-week course at two hundred dollars plus tax. The published curriculum covers watch or focus, sit, stay, down, leash handling and loose-leash walking, recall, and whatever problem behaviors the handler brings. Both private and group options are available.
Class rules
Group sizes are kept deliberately small. Each dog may bring a maximum of two adults, and children under ten are not permitted in class for safety reasons. Puppies are welcome as soon as their vaccinations are complete, and the site is direct that a dog showing genuine aggression toward people or other dogs must do a private lesson before it can enroll in a group class. Payment is due at the first class and is non-refundable, though the campus will email the content of any session a handler misses.
