About Camelot Dog Training Hudson Valley
Camelot Dog Training is an in-home training business that runs a Hudson Valley branch alongside branches in Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts and Westchester. There is no training center to drive to: the whole model is that a trainer comes to the house. The Hudson Valley pages name Samantha Smart as the trainer and publish a local number, and the About page credits the founder, "professional dog trainer Tom Porier", with more than 13 years of the business.
Why in-home
The argument for the format is made plainly: "Training inside your dog's normal environment allows us to see the behavior you experience every day. Instead of asking you to recreate the problem in an unfamiliar classroom, your trainer can work with you in the places where the behavior actually occurs." Sessions then move outward on purpose – from inside the house to the neighborhood, local parks, pet-friendly businesses and downtown areas – so that commands survive people, dogs, vehicles and wildlife.
What they work on
The published problem list is long and specific rather than generic: leash pulling and difficult walks, jumping on family or guests, excessive barking, ignoring commands around distractions, puppy biting and destructive behavior, potty and crate training, door rushing, fear and insecurity, dog and leash reactivity, resource guarding, separation-related behavior, and human- or dog-directed aggression. Separate published programs cover puppy training, anxious and fearful dogs, obedience, service dog training, therapy dog training, pre-adoption evaluations and even training for a dog's role in a wedding.
The aggression work, and the honesty in it
The aggression page starts with history-taking rather than obedience drills – "We begin by gathering a detailed history and evaluating the circumstances surrounding the behavior" – and then sets an expectation most sales pages avoid: "No responsible trainer can promise that every dog will become social with every person or animal. Our goal is to improve control, reduce risk, build more appropriate responses, and help you manage your dog with greater confidence."
Where it serves, and how to start
Camelot works as a service-area business. The Hudson Valley page markets across the region rather than from one town – Middletown, Newburgh and Kingston are all named. The way in is a booked behavior consultation, and the Hudson Valley line is (845) 947-7406.
