About BMB Dog Training
BMB Dog Training is a one-person practice based in Newburgh, and its own site is direct about why: "Barbara Benedict is a full service dog trainer and owner of BMB Dog Training. Based out of Newburgh, New York, my mission is to help owners to realize that no dog should be considered beyond help." The motto on every page is "Training Dogs, Educating Owners", and the reasoning behind it is spelled out – too many family dogs end up in shelters or passed along because, in her words, "the owners are uneducated about the breed they chose as a pet."
What is on offer
The published program list is short and legible: a Puppy Program, Basic Obedience Training, Advanced Obedience Training, Off Site Hikes with Trainer, Pet Sitting Services and Dog Park Visits. Training and non-training work sit side by side on the same menu, which is common for a solo operator in a small city, but the obedience ladder is the core product.
How the training is framed
The method statement is about communication rather than technique: "Clear communication, proper training techniques, education and consistency creates TRUST which develops into a solid relationship between you and your dog. Confident dog owners = Confident & Trusting dogs." The site repeats the line "CLEAR COMMUNICATION TRUMPS CONFUSION" as its banner, and the About page adds a quote that fixes the expectation on the handler: "Consistency is the key to successful training."
How it works in practice
The policies page is the most useful thing published, because it sets the terms in advance rather than after a dispute. Packages are pre-paid before the first lesson. A six-week session has to be completed inside six weeks, and the site says plainly that "consistency and dedication from the dog owner is required." Fees are non-refundable once training starts, illness or emergency is rescheduled with 24 hours notice, and no-shows are charged. Most notably, the practice publishes its own limits: "Some issues may not be able to be covered within a six (6) week lesson frame: Examples being fearful, aggression, and other complex issues. Further discussion will be needed to determine correct training." That is a boundary very few directory listings put in writing.
Getting in touch
The business publishes a Newburgh street address, 45 Weyants Ln, and takes bookings by phone on (845) 541-3683. There is no online booking system and no price list on the site, so the first step is a conversation about the dog and the goal.
