About Crimson Hound
Crimson Hound, LLC is a La Crosse dog training business whose tagline is "Teaching dogs. Coaching humans. Building trust." The site states its base plainly – "Based in La Crosse, Wisconsin, Crimson Hound, LLC offers compassionate, expert-led training and support for dogs and their people" – and describes private in-home sessions "throughout the Coulee Region, as well as virtual sessions, online courses, and pet loss grief support."
Who it is for
The home page opens with a list of the situations it takes on: a dog "new to your home," "fearful or anxious," "reactive on walks," "growling near food/toys," "fighting with other dogs," "barking at visitors," "pulling on leash," or "not coming if called." It also offers help "training a Skilled Companion Dog." Owners unsure which format fits are pointed to a "FREE 15-minute Discovery Call."
How the training works
Three delivery formats are published side by side. Private in-home is described as "You and your dog learn together alongside a professional trainer," in the client's own home. Private virtual runs the same way "via Zoom." Online courses are "self-paced, online learning modules" with "video tutorials and activities" and "group virtual Q&A and training sessions available." Every format is described as ending with a written plan: "You'll receive a custom homework plan along with relevant handouts and videos to guide your practice. I offer ongoing support between sessions." The published course list includes canine body language courses for pet professionals and for pet parents, a Pawsitive Foundations program, and Canine-Assisted Skills and Wellness.
Method and credentials
The method section is unusually explicit about what is refused: "My training is rooted in ethical, rewards-based methods that never rely on pain, fear, or force. As a Fear Free Certified Professional, I prioritize your dog's emotional well-being and will never use – or recommend – aversive tools like choke, prong, or shock collars." On qualifications the site says, "The dog training industry is unregulated – anyone can call themselves a trainer. I've chosen a different path. As a Certified Dog Behavior Consultant and Professional Dog Trainer, I've invested in formal education and have demonstrated my knowledge through rigorous, science-based exams with international certification boards." The site names Kerrie Hoar as the trainer and publishes two awards: "Platinum Award recipient for Best Pet Training by La Crosse CommunityVotes for 2024 & 2025" and "Voted a Sniffspot Best Dog Trainer in Wisconsin since 2023."
