About Dog Pond Kennels
What they do
Dog Pond Kennels was founded by Laurie, Glen and Travis Williams in 2010 and sits on Walker Lane at Thomasville, which the site places "conveniently located between Thomasville, Georgia and Tallahassee, Florida." It offers boarding, a month-long obedience program and gun dog training.
Training
The obedience camp runs four weeks and is built around one-on-one prescheduled visits from the owner, so the handover happens through the program rather than at the end of it: the site describes it as creating "a language for better communication between you and your dog." Beyond obedience, the kennel trains retrievers for competition and gun dogs for the field, and offers conditioning. Laurie Williams writes on the mission page that the work is not limited to one breed or type and that she takes behavioral and socialization cases as well as sporting ones.
The grounds
Forty-six fenced acres on a private drive, with two training ponds, multiple large fenced airing yards and indoor climate-controlled kennels. Someone is on the grounds twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. Boarding requires up-to-date rabies, DHLP, parvo and bordetella records from a veterinarian; the kennel feeds Purina Pro Plan but will use food you provide. Day care is available for dogs that just need a day out. There is also a puppy program and a Second Chance Program.
Contact
The number published on the site is an 850 Florida one, but the address and the kennel itself are in Thomas County, Georgia.
